How contradictions between Christian faith and science are resolved. Does the Bible contradict science?
Does the Bible Contradict Science?
There are two biggest supposed contradictions between the Bible and the science:
- Was there the macro-evolution? (particularity, were Adam and Eve the first two people, and did they live only ~6000 years ago?)
- Feelings, thoughts, conscience – do they pertain to the brain or to soul/spirit?
There were claimed (e.g. by atheists) many more contradictions, but I can’t consider them all, so let’s now focus only on these two.
Was there the macro-evolution or God’s creation?
The story in Genesis can be understood as God creating life using evolution as a tool in 7 “galactic days”.
The main argument of creationists is that 7 days, each 24 hours is not enough for evolution. But what if God meant “galactic days” (when more stars near the Earth, it is considered a day; when less – a night) rather than usual days? I am not an expert in astronomy, but suppose “galactic days” possibly may match the periods of evolution well. Then Genesis could be understood as a description of evolution: how God creates life on the Earth, using evolution as a tool.
Were Adam and Eve the first people?
If the ancient word “adam” is to be understood as “a reasonable creature” instead of “a man”, then 6000 years ago there appeared two people who got the “degree” or”diploma” of a reasonable creature from aliens. Prior people existed but weren’t considered reasonable.
(Gen. 2:7) “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” can be, without any tension, interpreted as: During the evolution Lord God created human body from the nutrients transferred by the food chain atoms from the soil and made him to breath oxygen. This no way contradicts science.
Do People Think and Feel by the Brain Or by Soul/Spirit?
This contradiction between science and the Bible disappears, if we suppose that “the soul” is electromagnetic activity of the brain. People think by the brain, the thoughts are in the soul inside it, and some of the soul flights to outer space as electromagnetic waves (where accordingly the Bible it can live further). That people’s brains emit radio-waves is proved in [1].
That people really think with the brain is proved by head traumas, narcotics, etc. breaking human mind, thoughts, character, etc.
In fact, the Bible teaches that human conscience is located in the brain: (1Tim. 4:2) “… having their conscience seared with a hot iron”. Thus we discover that at the times of apostle Paul the slaves’ conscience was scorched by placing hot iron at their heads (apparently, to make slaves more obedient).
Self-Esteem of a Christian and Self-Esteem of a Scientist
(Phil. 2:3) “… in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”
Because I am a prominent mathematician, I consider myself above other people.
Other people “punished” me for considering myself above others by severe hunger: For example, if I confess myself above the business boss, I can’t be hired. Such the attitude towards me can be only from one reason: that others (including the Christians requiring from me not to consider myself above them) consider themselves above me.
I tried hard to make myself think to be below other people: I considered, that if I consider myself better than others, they will beat me by head or damage me by hunger and I will lose superiority of my brain. But I failed putting this line of thought along practical Christianity. I even considered to damage my own head, to deal away with my superiority in order not to die from hunger. I was stopped only be (1Сor 3:18) “Let no man deceive himself…”
In fact, Christians are shackled by the commandment to consider themselves below others, more specifically by the contradiction between this commandment and their perceived self-esteem. This contradiction makes the mind of a Christian inoperable (this commandment is a barrier that limits the mind of a Christian). This makes Christians in a sense below other people in the mind.
See also: How considering everybody equal not only in rights but also in value harms the world (a moral teaching). In fact these who would consider myself equal to them, hated me for having a different opinion about myself and deprived me of all human rights. So, as usual, they considered themselves above me.
👉 If you consider yourself above me, you likely won’t donate for my project. But if you consider yourself below me, you are ready to donate. If you don’t, you are not quite a Christian, you may be just trying, like I was trying.
