Currently, AI Internet-Meritocracy (AIIM) has the following limitations:
- It is engineered to pay salaries only to open source developers, scientists, and science marketers/popularizers, not for example to non-science journalists.
- It is a Node.js app with a custodial wallet (going to rewrite as a fully-onchain ICP blockchain app to gain a non-custodial wallet).
- Though sophisticated, prompt injection protection is unreliable. So, it relies on human voters.
- Batch OpenAI API usage is programmed, but not yet tested, and therefore is turned off. It works with the regular Responses API, instead.

Supporting independent science is not only a matter of fairness to researchers whose expertise and work are often underfunded. It is also essential for addressing systemic failures in scientific publishing that delay discoveries and leave important results unnoticed.
