Take action to overcome this problem.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Since I was a university student in Russia. I used to spend hours in the dusty reading rooms of paper encyclopedias. It was not a glamorous process, but it worked. In one of those Russian-language encyclopedias, I found clear and concise descriptions of <em>poset filters<\/em> and <em>proximity spaces<\/em>. Those concepts inspired me to go further \u2014 and eventually, I discovered an entirely new branch of mathematics: the theory of funcoids.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But after I was forced to leave the university due to <strong>religious discrimination<\/strong>, I found myself in an unusual position. I had deep mathematical results \u2014 yet <strong>no scientific degree<\/strong> and therefore <strong>no access to the traditional peer-review publishing system<\/strong>. Today, the web is dominated by algorithms that bury valuable knowledge under piles of commercial noise. The most important information \u2014 like the <em>basic properties of mathematical objects<\/em> \u2014 has become harder, not easier, to find.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a breakthrough doesn\u2019t appear in peer-reviewed journals or high-ranking websites, search engines effectively erase it from existence. My own research \u2014 the next stage of understanding filters and proximity spaces \u2014 is not indexed in standard reference sources, not discussed by AI models, and not visible to students who could build upon it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a result, the Internet \u2014 once imagined as the ultimate open library \u2014 now behaves as a <strong>closed one<\/strong>.<br>It amplifies the voices of institutions and corporations, while silencing <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@yashbatra11111\/google-search-feels-worse-in-2025-the-real-reason-83999eae8109\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@yashbatra11111\/google-search-feels-worse-in-2025-the-real-reason-83999eae8109\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">independent<\/a> thinkers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Current_Tech_Harm\"><\/span>The Current Tech Harm<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The harm is subtle but enormous. The <strong>most valuable knowledge<\/strong> \u2014 the foundational ideas that shape how we understand the world \u2014 is disappearing behind layers of SEO optimization, paywalls, and algorithmic filtering.<br>The next generation of researchers may have faster computers and smarter search tools, yet access to <em>less<\/em> truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Solution_AI_Internet-Meritocracy\"><\/span>The Solution: AI Internet-Meritocracy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe there is a way out \u2014 through what I call <strong><a href=\"\/zh\/ai-internet-socialism\/\">AI Internet-Meritocracy<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It\u2019s not about politics, but about fairness in knowledge. Imagine an AI system that prioritizes <em>value<\/em> over <em>virality<\/em> \u2014 that amplifies real discoveries instead of trending noise. Such an AI would curate the Internet as a true public good: ranking ideas by their intellectual significance, not their advertising budgets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI Internet-Meritocracy would bring back the spirit of the old library \u2014 a place where anyone, regardless of institutional affiliation, can access the full spectrum of human thought.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The web must again serve humanity\u2019s quest for truth, not its addiction to distraction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"scien-1661837434\" class=\"scien-after-content scien-entity-placement\"><section>\r\n\r\n<h2>Support Independent Science<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>Supporting independent science is not only a matter of fairness to researchers whose expertise and work are often underfunded.
